Kris Fan, Covid-19 Action
Kris Kristofferson has a long history of supporting causes and getting things done. Boris is a student living in Belgium, and a Kris fan.
Pandemic
We are all wondering how to cope with the pandemic. Boris, and some of his young friends are doing their bit to help those more vulnerable than themselves navigate these frightening and disruptive times.
Risk
Elderly people, especially those who cannot rely on family, friends or neighbours, are especially vulnerable to this awful virus – An illness that we still know little about.
Governments wordwide are concerned about older people because they are more likely to get really unwell if they are infected. Self-isolation is the only effective way to avoid getting the virus – Yet people need to eat, and in order to do that, they need to shop.
Senior Support
Boris is one of five young people involved in the outreach.
They are cooking fresh spaghetti bolognaise, crammed with vegetables, and will sell it to seniors for 2.5 Euros. They are distributing hot meals to vulnerable people who need to self-isolate. They hope to provide affordable, wholesome nourishment and greatly reduce the need for vulnerable people to break isolation and reduce the risk of exposure through shopping.
In concrete terms, we are going to bring spaghetti to elderly people across the three boroughs of Zoersel, so that they do not have to go to the store that day. We will take every precaution regarding hygiene. If people are struggling financially and can support this, we will bring the spaghetti for free. We are really aiming for the target group of vulnerable Zoerselaars and do not want to compete with caterers.

Religious, political, youth and other groups have a wonderful opportunity to do their bit for communities. This is a time to put differences aside, and pull together. It is heartwarming to see young people step up and do what they can during these troubled times.
