Kris Kristofferson -Mostly fiction?

“I was writing short stories, and I remember that the biggest thing you could do in school then was they had an Atlantic Monthly short story contest, and I won it. I got first and third and a lot of honorable mentions……………………… I hope someday—and it’d better be fast—that I’ll start writing longer fiction.” Kris Kristofferson, 2009

  1. In 1978-’79, I was a Graduate Assistant for Prof. Dr. John Fuegi at the U of MD.
John Fuegi had been studying at Pomona College, CA, together with Kris — he mentioned these short stories to me and that Kris had won first and third price in that Atlantic Monthly short story contest (if I can recall correctly).

  2. I love his lyrics and songs. One of my most favorite is about a tragedy on one of the Great Lakes.. about The Edmund Fitzgerald sinking during a storm. Very heavy weather on those lakes during the winter! I’m from Columbia South Carolina by birth originally. I have relatives in Florida also so I know what storms are like. Hurricanes and tornadoes and such! ? Scary and sometimes deadly! ? ? Charlie Palmer Jr. ?

    1. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts – Kris has such a huge catalogue of songs that we are going through trying to work out which one this is 🙂
      Great hearing from you
      Regards,
      Donna
