Kristofferson Scorsese – Hearts, Minds, Talent

The Kristofferson / Scorsese relationship is fond, long lived & the artists have a lot in common.

Kris Kristofferson has worked with many of the most talented people of our time. He has shared a stage with many people who have become household names. His movies have attracted less attention  than they deserve.  Kris met Scorsese around 1972. Let’s take a brief look at the two men – Both legends in their own right.

Kris appeared as David in Scorsese’s movie Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (released 1974)

It was Scorsese’s 4th film, & won many awards

Scorsese leveraged Kris’ lyrics , “He’s a prophet and a pusher, partly truth, partly fiction” as dialogue in the movie Taxi Driver to describe the violent/ loner character of Travis Buckle – “A walking contradiction.”

Scorsese and Kristofferson both champion artists’ rights

Kristofferson was influential in changing country music & was part of the outlaw movement

Scorsese was directed/ worked on some of the most enduring movies in every gendre

Both men have worked on a vast catalogue of material. Kristofferson & Scorsese’s careers both span more than 50 years

Both men are still working on their craft

Both men are spiritual.

  • Scorsese wanted to become  priest.
  • Kristofferson’s experience in a church caused him to record, Why Me  & he admires William Yeats

Both men fought addiction in their early lives

Both men support war veterans.
