1955 was an exciting time for music. Fred Foster wanted to sign the 20 year old Elvis to Mercury Records, but the boss didn’t bite and up its bid. Elvis went from Sun to RCA and the rest of that story is history.

Monument

1958 Fred Foster sold everything and started Monument Records with Buddy Deane, a DJ who sold his Monument stock back to Foster in 1959. He remained active with Monument unto the 80’s, u0026amp; was linked with names like Dolly Parton, Roy Orbison, Billy Joe Shaver, Willie Nelson, Ray Stevens u0026amp; Kris Kristofferson.

• Kris’ first album was released by Monument in 1970
• The Silver Tongued Devil u0026amp; I was released by Monument in 1971
• Borderlord u0026amp; Jesus was a Capricorn followed in 1972
• spooky Lady’s Sideshow u0026amp; Breakaway (with Coolidge) were released in 1974
• Who’s to Bless u0026amp; Who’s to Blame came next in 1975
• Surreal Thing in 1976

The next 3 albums were released by Monument/Columbia

• Easter Island 1978
• Shake Hands with the Devil 1979
• To the Bone 1981

June 2016 saw the Complete Monument and Columbine Album Collection re-released (by Legacy) with some exciting, never before released Bonus Discs u0026amp; footage. Although Fred Foster had left the labels, he did write, along with other contributors, a forward in the booklet that came with this collection of 16 discs.
